Ulrich in the Studio During the first part of 2011, Ulrich is working on a 12-foot sculpture in stainless steel with a bronze ring, entitled "Ringer, Interconnected." The towering elegant sculpture will be installed at the end of the summer of 2011. "Ringer, Interconnected" like each of Ulrich's sculptures, requires a series of different fabrication steps. Ulrich employs his tools as many other sets of hands including his forklift and overhead cranes. His decades of experience creating metal art allow him an efficiency and ease with his materials, gives him the time to execute each step with precision and comfort and allows him the spontaneity of changes in design and implementation. The artistic process, arrived at through hours of study, often involving sleepless nights of mental manipulations, is as much an art form for Ulrich as the sculpture itself. It is an orchestration of materials, tools, people, and time.
