Born: 1951. Essen,
Germany.
1968. Sheet Metal Journeyman in Germany.
1991. Married in U.S. Two children, ages 10 and 13.
June 2004 University of
Ulrich’s
collaboration with University of
Pennsylvania began as a commission to install a memorial in the courtyard
of the Schattner Building. Ulrich
created a fountain design, fitting the emotional, esthetic and engineering
concerns of alumni, the University design committee, the landscape architect
and the physical plant staff.
January 2004
Trivergence Fountain, a 20’
fountain commissioned by the City of
Everett for their new Everett Events Center. Ulrich was chosen for the project following
an invitational competition. Digital images recorded the progress of the
project. Film crew filmed the progress
for public television. Installation
completed in January 2004; dedication ceremony with city and regional officials
May 2004. Rave reviews from Mayor Stephanson, arts commission and media.
April 2006 DFB- Pharmaceuticals –
Ulrich has
moved into the a new medium with this latest commission, replacing the lively
flow of water with the elegant, arresting flow of gently colored cast glass.
Installed on DFB Pharmaceuticals new campus in May 2006.
May 2004 Bedford Properties – Time Square. Kent, Washington. Stainless steel 20-foot by 8-foot by 30 foot Gnomon
of the Sundial.
Ulrich’s
collaboration with Burgess & Weaver, began as a proposal of several
different designs. The client, Bedford Properties, picked one of
them. Ulrich developed the chosen
design into a central focal point of a new office/retail complex. Ulrich’s technical skills combined with an
artist’s esthetics produced a dramatic focal point to the entire project.

2002 Kevin
Arkadie, Hollywood screenwriter. Los
Angeles, California. Stainless steel
& bronze fountain Bouncing Rolling.
Ulrich’s
collaboration with Hollywood
screenwriter, Kevin Arkadie, began as a dialogue. Ulrich developed the fountain, Bouncing
Rolling, into a successful sculptural water feature after learning about
the site via e-mail and digital images.
It was a challenging site, along a steep hill in front of his residence
but Ulrich’s creativity and persistence created an unforgettable front view for
this Hollywood Hills residence.
2001 Fred

stainless steel sculpture Arabesque.
Arabesque began as a vague concept. Mr.
Sigmund came to Ulrich with an idea and asked him to turn the idea into a
sculpture for the front entryway to his estate.
Arabesque is the result of that months-long creative
collaboration.

9’ Nebula Torcida for central plaza of the Microsoft
Cedar
Court Campus,
Nebula Torcida was a collaborative work between
Ulrich Pakker, the G2 Architecture firm and the Hines Development Corporation. Ulrich worked with both the architects and
the Hines staff to arrive at a site-specific plan that suited everyone. Progress pictures were taken throughout
fabrication and e-mailed to the client every few weeks. The photos were presented to Hines &
Microsoft by Ulrich Pakker as a project book at the completion of a wonderful
project. The sculpture now sits in the
center of the Cedar Court Microsoft
Campus in Redmond. Microsoft teams use it as the symbol of the campus,
taking photos in front it when launching new software.
1996 G2 Architecture Inc.. Seattle, Washington. Stainless steel sculpture Caracol #2. Commissioned for presentation to the Boeing Company upon dedication of the
Boeing Company’s International Headquarters complex.

Post Alley Sculpture Garden, located in the heart of downtown Seattle, off of Pike Place Market, hosted Ulrich Pakker’s extremely successful exhibit of his most recent large scale sculptures and sculptural fountains, drawing people from across the country as well as many local architects and designers.
